HISD reopens on Thursday, January 18, 2024.

WEATHER CLOSURE: All campuses of HISD will be closed Friday (Feb. 4th) due to the threat of icy road conditions early tomorrow morning. Classes will resume on Monday (Feb 7th). The closure will impact many of our athletic and extracurricular activities scheduled this weekend. Please watch for information directly from your students’ activity sponsors (coaches, bands directors, teachers, etc.) through Remind. We will try to post all schedule updates at https://HendersonISD.org/weather as well.

By 12:30 p.m, Thursday, temperatures had already dropped below freezing in a few portions of the district and we expect that to continue overnight. While temperatures may climb above freezing tomorrow afternoon, we do not yet know if it will be enough to allow for safe travel Friday afternoon or evening. We are in contact with forecasters and local emergency management authorities to best assess the current situation. HISD’s priority remains keeping our students and staff safe and will cancel or postpone activities if travel is potentially dangerous. Watch our website (HendersonISD.org/weather) for updates.

The very best way to stay informed about possible changes is to download and install HISD’s free mobile app. This is a new app released just this past year and is available in the Apple iOS and Google Play stores (see links below). When you open the app, make sure you go to the settings and select the campuses you want to receive notifications from.
