Henderson High School Graduation Plan

June 5, 2020, 7:00 p.m. at Lions Stadium

Henderson ISD is pleased to announce the Commencement Ceremony for the Henderson High School Class of 2020. Obviously, this ceremony will be very different from years past due to social distancing requirements. Still, we are extremely excited to be able to host an “in-person” event--one similar to our traditional ceremony--for all graduates who wish to participate. Below is a list of the current details so graduates and their families may begin planning. We will provide more information in the coming weeks

  • Each graduate will receive six (6) tickets.
  • Graduates will park on the Montgomery playground and enter the stadium through the band gate on the visitor side of the stadium.  Staff will be assigned to direct the students when parking.
  • Graduates will be spread out on the field to maintain social distancing.
  • There will be no hand-shaking on the stage.
  • All graduates and spectators are encouraged to wear masks or face coverings.
  • HHS will provide graduates with a dress code.
  • Tickets and pre-screening forms will be distributed to graduates at an announced time leading up to the graduation ceremony.
  • Immediately after graduation, the graduates will be dismissed from the stadium in an orderly fashion through the same gate they entered.
  • Students who do not wish to participate in the ceremony can make appointments to receive their diplomas individually.
  • Gates to the stadium will open at 6:00 for guests.  We will use the main gates on the home and visitor side. The back gate on the south end of the stadium will also be used.
  • People are encouraged to stay in their vehicles until the gates are open.
  • Each guest must provide a ticket and a required COVID survey to enter.
  • Each ticket will admit one adult or child.
  • We ask that each graduate guest party arrive and sit together.
  • The home and visitor bleachers will be open and have staffing to direct guests to the designated seating areas.
  • Spectators will be released by sections after the ceremony to maintain social distancing guidelines.  Guests will be asked to exit the stadium and to their cars after being released.
  • No one will be allowed to gather on the field immediately after the ceremony, everyone must exit the stadium.
The graduation ceremony will be streamed live online. Links to the live stream will be available at www.HendersonISD.org/Live.
  • Since we are streaming the event, we strongly encourage those who are considered “at risk” to watch the ceremony remotely.
  • Stations with hand sanitizer will be located throughout the stadium.
  • Henderson High School will provide medical personnel and uniformed officers at the graduation ceremony.
  • Restrooms will be continually monitored and cleaned throughout the night.
  • Should rain or inclement weather delay the ceremony, the contingency plan is to move the ceremony to Saturday, June 6 at 7:00 PM.
  • The stadium will open from 8:45pm to 11:00pm for families to return individually and take pictures on the field or stage area.
