Four Henderson ISD Educators Earn National Board Certification
Henderson ISD proudly recognizes four exceptional educators who have exemplified the district’s Tradition of Excellence by earning their National Board Certification—one of the highest honors in the teaching profession.
Sonya Lee (Wylie Elementary, not pictured), Penni Cross (Henderson Middle School, right), Sarah Hunnicutt (Henderson Middle School, left), and Lauren Kirk (Henderson Middle School, middle) have achieved this prestigious distinction through a rigorous certification process. This process involves intensive study, in-depth self-reflection, the submission of exemplary teaching practices, and the demonstration of mastery in content knowledge and pedagogy.
National Board Certification is a symbol of accomplished teaching, recognized across the country as a standard of excellence. Fewer than 3% of teachers nationwide hold this distinguished credential, making this achievement even more remarkable.
“These four educators have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to their students and their craft,” said Interim Superintendent Jim Dunlap. “Their hard work and dedication are an inspiration to us all and a testament to the incredible talent we have here in Henderson ISD.”
The district congratulates Ms. Lee, Ms. Cross, Ms. Hunnicutt, and Ms. Kirk on their well-deserved accomplishment, which reflects their dedication to their students and the teaching profession. Henderson ISD is proud to celebrate this milestone in their careers.
